"Richmond Works"
New Public Art in Richmond, California
Richmond Transit Village
Along Marina Way, West of the Richmond BART station
PROJECT
DESCRIPTION
With sponsorship of the City of Richmond and its Art Commission, and under contract to the Olson company, developer of the Richmond Transit Village, sculptor Vickie Jo Sowell has provided a striking homage to this great California city's past, present, and future in the form of a 600+ foot fence along Marina Way. The piece consists of seven original designs, each presenting a different aspect of the City's history, culture, and aspirations rendered in 170 steel fence panels along the Transit Village's western border.
